This is a follow up post about how to make money with Adsense

Once you sign up with Adsense, you will be provided with the so called Adsense code: this is a bit of html code (javascript to be exact) you copy and paste in your web pages.

If you don’t have a clue what html is nor javascript, then make sure you do know how to copy and paste, because that’s the only real action you have to undertake.

When visitors visit your web pages with Adsense, they don’t see the Adsense code, but in stead they will see advertisements that are related to the content of your web page.

Every time somebody clicks on a link from the advertisements, Adsense will pay you a few cents. But if your website talks about a so called "expensive keyword niche", Adsense could pay you a few dollars for each click.

Now don’t start digging for these niches if you are new in all this, that would be similar as looking for oil: you wouldn’t have a clue where to start!

Once you are making your first money with Adsense, then you have to fine-tune your writing or start digging for gold, oil that is… :-)

Adsense is really the mother of all content targeted advertisements. Similar advertising services are Adbrite, Clicksor and Bidvertiser (which I use). Since Adsense is actually a service from Google, you can imagine similar services are available at Yahoo and MSN.

You can go to the Adsense page at Google, or to the other advertising services mentioned above and sign up free.

After you sign up, you will be provided with "some html code" that you copy and paste in your website. (you can play around with the look and feel of the ads that will be shown on your website).

From that moment on Google does the rest and you are ready to earn money with Adsense.

internet-marketing

Internet marketing? I can hear you thinking after reading our previous post about "think visitors": all these email, bookmarks, invite a friend button…. if it is so important, then why don’t I see it on this website? Because there is another important saying: content is king!

You cannot do everything right the first day of your website…

It is no use to build roads to Vegas if there is no Vegas… first you build Vegas, then you attract people!

Same here: first I add content, then I make sure to do everything else right :-) You have to start somewhere and there is always time and space for improvement! Every day you can or rank higher if you are not number 1 or increase your on line traffic.

You cannot see through your website into the houses of your visitors, or can you? Well, you do have some more realistic SEO tools to help you out:

  • logfiles… See where your visitors are coming from! This is pretty useful: if you see that most of your visitors are coming from a link on Linky Love’s website, then your next SEO step is to get more links form sites like Linky Love’s website.
    • If you have a free website, then install a sitemeter like sitemeter.com and you will get this so very important information you normally find in the logfiles of your webserver, not to mention that sitemeter gives you nice statistics for free as well!
  • emails: put your email-address out there and read what people email you! Answer them and ask them how they found your website, and if they have more feedback to give to you. Most likely if you answer their email, they will answer you some lines back.
  • registration… all these websites asking for your age, name, …. they are trying to get an idea of their visitors
  • polls: a lot of fun, fast and sometimes pretty interesting to see that your visitors had a complete other idea than you.

In our next post we will elaborate how to make your new visitors return to your website: it’s always great to have a "regular crowd".
