Improved Search Engine Ranking: Step 2: the right Keywords

Why do I need keywords? You have a point there: actually you just need good content.

How do we define good content?

The word content is too vague for comfort. You cannot be good in everything, so you need to be good in "something". This "something" should be summarized in a few words and these words are your keywords: they
define ‘exactly’ what your content is all about.

Optimizing keywords

Each webpage should be written around 1 topic, summarized in 1 keyword. But you will soon find out that 1 keyword still is too vague to define your content. So to be exact:

So are you going to write about dogs, puppies, Labrador puppies, sick Labrador puppies….. The more specific I become, the more specific I can write a webpage. The less specific I am, the more I am talking about my entire website in stead of webpages.
