How to make sure visitors come back?

If you engage into a conversation with your visitors, they will come back to make more conversation.
How do you "make a conversation"?
- make an interactive page: especially if people can ask a question, they will come back to read the answer
- make sure you have content that is useful
- make sure your pages load fast: it is very irritating to wait for a page to load… by that time your visitor is mostly gone
- add a newsletter to your site that people can subscribe to. If they one day forget about your site but a month later get an email from you they could say: oh yes, that site, that was interesting, let me go and have a look again.
- bookmarks: put a bookmark or "add to favorites" button on your web-page, so people can easily come back to you
- "invite a friend" button: if people really find your site good, let them email their own friends using your email-facilities on your website. This works extremely well with websites where there is something to see. (pictures, humour, video…)
- and of course on a blog: make sure people can leave a comment!
